Target system: Pimero 2013

1. Copying the entire data directory

Locate the data directory on the old computer and copy it to a location that the new computer can access (e.g. a USB stick).

Windows Vista or newer

C:\Users\WINDOWS_USER\AppData\Roaming\soft-evolution\Pimero

Please note that the directory C:\Users\WINDOWS_USER\AppData is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the menu “Organize” -> “Folder Options”. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\WINDOWS_USER\Program Files\soft-evolution\Pimero\

Please note that the directory C:\Documents and Settings is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the “Folder Options” menu. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

Note: After you have successfully installed Pimero on your new computer, you will need to set up your e-mail account again.

2. Installation on a single computer

Install Pimero on the new computer and start the configuration wizard.

To start the configuration wizard, click “Start” -> “All Programs” -> “Pimero” -> “Configuration Wizard”.

Skip the first (Welcome) page by clicking “Next>”.

Attention: Please create a “dummy user”.  This “dummy user” is required for technical reasons. Simply enter the word “dummy” in each field and click “Next ->” to proceed to the next step.

This “dummy user” can be deleted after finishing this chapter.

Listing

The configuration wizard lists all upcoming tasks.

Click “Next >”.

SingleInstallAfter all tasks have been successfully completed, please click on “Next >”.
Then click on “Finish” to close the configuration wizard.

3. Importing data from the old computer

Click on “Start” -> “All Programs” -> “Pimero” -> “Server Administrator”. After the start, the program is minimized in the taskbar.

Click on the icon to open the window. If you are prompted for the password, simply press the ‘OK’ button.

Navigate to the “Import Database” tab.

To start the import, click on “Select”.

Now you will see a file dialog that lets you select database files (*. FDB / *. MDB / without file extension) or backup files (*. FBK).

Now select the file that you saved in step 1. Press “Start import” to start the import process.

After the import is complete, you can close the server administrator.

4. Start Pimero with dummy user

Please start Pimero.

Log in to Pimero with the previously created user “Dummy”. Attention: Do not use the checkbox “Remember login information on this computer”!

Please wait until Pimero has finished synchronizing the imported data.

Now your old user should be in the “View” box.

Tip: forgotten password

If you have forgotten your password for the old user, you can overwrite it now.

1. Click on “Tools” -> “Admin Options”.

2. Select your old username from the list and click “Edit”.

3. Check the box “Change password” and edit your password.

Now you can close Pimero. Then start Pimero again with the old user data.

To delete the “Dummy” user, click on “Tools” -> “Admin Options” and select the “Dummy” user in the list, then click on “Delete”.

 

Target system:Older Pimero versions (Pimero 2012 R3 and earlier)

2. Installing your version on the new computer

Please download the version you had installed on the old computer and install it on the new computer.
Older Pimero versions:
Finally, copy your previously saved data from step 1 to the appropriate data directory on the new computer.
