How you import an existing database depends on the type of your installation.

Standalone installation

To start the import process, please select “Import” – > “From Pimero Database or Backup” from the main menu (the large round button at the top left).

In the new window, you can select a database file (*.FDB / *.MDB / without file extension) or database backup (*.FBK). Pimero saves these files in the data directory of the corresponding version.

Windows Vista or newer

C:\Users\WINDOWS_USER\AppData\Roaming\soft-evolution\Pimero

Please note that the directory C:\Users\WINDOWS_USER\AppData is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the menu “Organize” -> “Folder Options”. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\WINDOWS_USER\Program Files\soft-evolution\Pimero\

Please note that the directory C:\Documents and Settings is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the “Folder Options” menu. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

Client / Server installation

From the Windows Start menu, open “Start” -> “All Programs” -> “Pimero” -> “Server Administrator”. Then enter the administrator password that you specified during the installation.

ServerAdmin Import

The Import Database tab allows you to import data from another database into your existing server. This can be important if there are other clients or standalone Pimero installations with important data that cannot be synchronized with your server.

With this tool you can merge data from multiple databases into one.

Please check first if the location and information about your existing database is correct.

Then select the file you want to import by clicking “Select”. The database files can be found as follows:

Client:

Server:

Windows Vista or newer

C:\ProgramData\soft-evolution\Pimero\

Please note that the directory C:\ProgramData is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the menu “Organize” -> “Folder options”. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Program Files\soft-evolution\Pimero\

Please note that the directory C:\Documents and Settings\ is hidden by Windows by default. You can change this in Windows Explorer in the “Folder Options” menu. In the View tab, check the box “Show hidden files and folders”.

If everything is correct, you can start the process by clicking on “Start import”.

Please note that the data must first be synchronized with the clients. This process may take some time depending on the size and amount of the imported data. You can see the progress in the status bar (bottom right) of the Pimero main window. The synchronization should normally start immediately after the program start.
