Run Pimero on a Terminal Server |
Important: To Run Pimero on a Terminal Server you need an installed Terminal Server on your Windows 2008 Server machine
1. Install Pimero on your server machine. To do so run the "setup_pimero.exe" and follow the Setup Wizard.
2. After finishing the installation the Setup Wizard starts. Configure a Pimero server (see chapter Network installation - Server).
3. When the Pimero Server is running you need to configure your Terminal Server.
Start the Server Manager.
4. Select "Server-Manager" -> "Roles" -> "Terminal Services" -> "Terminal Services - RemoteApp Manager" in the left side of your Server Manager

5. Choose "Add RemoteApp Application" on the right side.

6. Click once on "Next", choose Pimero of the list of available applications, click "Next" again and then "Finish"
Now you can see Pimero in the list of installed RemoteApp Applications.

7. Create a RDP-File by clicking on "Create RDP file". This file is used to connect the clients to your Terminal Server.

8. Copy the RDP-File to every computer you want to run a Pimero client on.
Important: every Pimero client that shall connect to the Terminal Server needs an user account on your server machine
In example:
You have three Pimero users on three client machines, Alan, Patricia and Jack. Now you need three user accounts on your
server machine.
9. To start Pimero on your client machines run the copied RDP file. The first time you start Pimero the Configuration Wizard will start.
Choose "Client - Synchronization with other Pimero installations" (see chapter Network installation - Client)
10. Set "localhost" as your server name and type in the password you have chosen during the installation of the Pimero Server.

11. Follow the wizard. If you haven't done so far you can create a new Pimero user at the end of the wizard.
Remember that your Pimero user needs an user account on your server machine!
12. After finishing the wizard you can login to your remote Pimero.
13. To run your remote Pimero the next time simply execute your copy of the RDP-file. Pimero will then start on your Terminal Server.
Adding rights for using Terminal Services for a user account
The user accounts on your server machine you have created for your Pimero users, need rights for using Terminal Services.
To grant these rights to your user account you can add your user account to the predefined user group "Terminal Server Computers".
To do this, the following steps have to be done:
1. Click on "Start" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Computer Management"
2. Select on the left side "System Tools" -> "Local Users and Groups" -> "Users"
Select your user account from the list in the middle

3. Right click on it, select "Properties"
4. Select "Member Of" to watch the groups this account belongs to. Click on "Add"
5. Click on "Advanced", then on "Find now"

6. Select the group "Terminal Server Computers" and click on "OK"

7. Click on "OK", then on "Apply" and again on "OK". Now you can close your Computer Management
Repeat these steps for each user account.
